Known as "Devil's Race Ground" by the original settlers to Stony Valley, Devil's Race Course is an expansive boulder field north of Rattling Run. The headwaters of Rattling Run "rattle" through the boulders, creating noises that the area's first settlers believed was the devil running through the depths of hell.

Today, the Horse-Shoe Trail passes through Devil's Race Course, on its northbound journey to its final destination north of Rattling Run.
